To prepare for this type of bridge, we place two dental implants in the bone of the jaw. The bone in this area is allowed to heal and bond well with these titanium implants. When healing is complete, we prepare a porcelain bridge to replace the teeth and add attachment points to the underside of the bridge. These attachments are secured to the dental implants.
Our patient now has an implant-supported bridge to replace the missing teeth. The advantage of implant-supported bridges is that the adjacent teeth do not need to be prepared for crowns to anchor the bridge so our patient retains more natural tooth tissue.
